As always, the great Swadian nation has been constantly working to improve our tactics and strengthen our men. There are now four new training options for hero classes: Juggernaut, Hoplite, Repeaterman, and Sentry. Each new hero class has at least one item of each tier: marketplace, personal crafting, house crafting, and legendary. There have been so many legendary items added in recent patches that I've lost count of how many you have left to find. Good luck!
Because existing items were moved to Juggernaut and Repeaterman, every character with a commando or crossbow hero class has been granted a "hero token". This token can be used to exchange your current hero class with another in the same tree at no cost. If you wish to change trees entirely, you may perform a normal character respec and the token will allow you to unlock any hero class with no gold cost (the normal xp requirements still apply). You can view your hero tokens on the settings page of eligible characters.
Better strength training has also been incorporated into the training regiment, particularly wrist exercises. Soldiers can now use the one handed mode of their bastard weapons far more effectively. Even the powerful Mjolnir can, with great strength, be wielded in a single hand. Press X to swap between bastard and one handed mode (Mjolnir switches between two handed and one handed).
For better or for worse, the Grinder Helmets of old have been reprocessed into stronger, lighter bascinets for our soldiers. Legionnaires can make use of these modified helmets.
Juggernaut: the blacksmiths have been hard at work creating stronger armors that push the limits of human endurance. The result is impressive - full suits of heavy hardened steel plates that still allow the users to maintain their mobility. This Hero has been trained not only to use such heavy armors, but also to better use infantry weapons in such an encumbering shell.
Hoplite: it has been made clear that some of the most feared weapons on the battlefield are those with some reach to them. However, sometimes soldiers would prefer the safety of the shield. Our answer are specialized one handed spears partnered with sturdy round shields that allow for superior versatility. The Hoplite has access to specialized spears with high one handed speeds that can be used in two handed mode for a little more speed and power. However, they cannot block in one handed mode, a shield is required.
Repeaterman: increased trade with the east has brought us great new technology. Our repeater crossbows have been fine tuned to have greatly increased accuracy at the cost of taking longer to reload and having a slightly slower shooting speed. Our crossbowmen required specialized training to properly use these powerful new machines of war.
Sentry: for some reason, our archers have always been partial to two handed swords. Some may say it is all in the aesthetic, others say it just feels safe to have a large, sharp piece of metal on your back to ward off nasty assassins. Either way, we have incorporated lessons from our two hand sword specialists to help train these soldiers to use their preferred melee weapons. As an added bonus, lighter, faster swords have been developed that can also be switched into a second mode where soldiers can perform overhead stabs.

In an effort to clean up item tiers and overall item balance, we have condensed house crafting into one solid tier rather than different tiers of similar items with different crafting costs. Legendary armors are also all the red tier now. This is to encourage people to level up all the way instead of focusing on funds upon reaching tier 4, as well as to promote the use of earlier crafted armors among new players and experienced players leveling up new characters alike. Items that belong to a specialized class should all be superior to non-specialized hero items, removing an old precedent of having cheaper hero locked items equal to or better than more expensive items due to being hero locked. You will also notice that house crafted and red legendary items are all hero locked now. Legendary item drop locations will change over time to put all of the orange drops to Normal and early Hard mode, with red drops moving to later Hard and Ragnarok mode. Bastard weapons will be adjusted in a future patch, where they will follow this trend and all gain a second mode to make them more effective in one hand mode. These changes are also meant to pave the way for exciting new additions in the future.

1.4.5b Server ReleaseThis is a server-side fix for Thor's AoE attack and certain crush-through attacks. They no longer deal way more damage than intended.
No need to download anything. As the servers restart, the fix will take effect.
1.4.5 Client ReleaseThis should fix all the chat problems introduced in 1.4.4.
Chat colours should work as expected and the O chat log should only show chat messages - no xp.
Another update will be coming to take care of any texture issues once we build up a list.

1.4.4 Client ReleaseThere is not much to say about this update. Although a ton of stuff was changed, it was all behind the scenes to remove stray script errors, improve reliability of various messages, and standardize some of the random ways we do things. That said, here are the more notable changes not buried deep in code...
Corrected the dimensions of the Swadian Throwing Daggers to avoid lag.
Made a few adjustments to the Black Steel Daggers also to avoid lag.

1.4.3 Client ReleaseMerry Christmas! We have an assortment of bug fixes as well as an updated Christmas mode for you this time.
Renamed "Report a Player" to "Request an Admin" and once again worked to improve its reliability.
Christmas mode has been refreshed for this year.
Friendly fire on your allies' horses is handled.
All errors involving activation codes not showing up or "incorrect level" info should be fixed now.
Added LODs to some of the items Nords use to improve performance (specifically Queen's Guard).

Princess Dortea has a map helmet now.
Kicking has been redone to prevent stunning allies. Kicks are also enabled on boss waves (but not the bosses themselves).
Boss crush through has been fixed.
Friendly fire hits now have a parry animation.
Added missing textures for Black Steel Dagger.
Improved the reliability of the player report optional text.
Added lattice scene props.

1.4.1 Client ReleaseFixes for the worst of the problems introduced in 1.4.0.
Cavalry mode has been fixed.
Using the Respawn Items button no longer double-kills you.
With the double-kill problem solved, the early Nord victory and round reset problem has also been solved.
This time, the Heavy Sallet actually does have it's writing removed.
The friendly-fire system now deals up to 10% of your health instead of exactly 10% of your health.

The character screen has a new button - Reload. Pressing the reload button causes your gear in-game to update with whatever you have equipped on the website. No more having to rejoin or die to update your gear! (Note: You do still need to respawn the items. This makes sure you have the most up to date set of gear when you do.)
The friendly fire hits are now handled by a custom system instead of the default Warband system. This gives us better control over the damage reflected (now 10% of your health each hit) and lets us do some other interesting things.
The player report option now asks why you are reporting the player and lets you add more information. When you submit the report, our admin team gets a notification with the player and server information as well as the reasons you provided. No need to tab out to ask for an admin.

Unnecessary menu items (single player items for instance) have been hidden in other languages as they have been in English.
Game modes are set differently in the configs. One of the up-shots of this is the server list displays the actual game mode instead of the map twice.

Again, many behind the scenes changes to the code which, if done properly, will never be noticed in-game.
Note: If you try to join a server without updating, your game will crash.

1.3.1 Client ReleaseThis patch fixes a bunch of little bugs here and there and adds a few minor features.
Nord Captain has an appropriate amount of body armour instead of being massively over-equipped.
The Swadian victory message should now reliably show up at the end of wave 15 instead of sometimes at the start, sometimes and the end, and sometimes not at all.
Bifrost Guardians now have a 50% chance of spawning with a ranged weapon.
The prop highlight beam is now always vertical instead of the angle the prop was placed in.
Bosses are marked on the mini-map again.
The number of assassins that can spawn on very small teams has been capped.
The prep time message for boss waves now notes that it is such.

You might recall the feedback thread from a couple months ago, Official Feedback - Number of Waves. Since then, we have been hard at work to move forward with that idea and with this update, all modes of NordInvasion are 15 waves long with spawns every third wave.
The reasoning for this change is all laid out in the feedback thread but the main points are...
People with less time have a better chance of being able to stick around for a full run.
Fewer waves seem like clones of earlier waves.
More maps can get played since each run takes less time.
With spawns every three waves, you don't have to wait so long after dying.
The waves are ordered as Mixed wave, Challenge wave, and Boss wave. As usual, respawning and gear replacement happen during the prep time right after the Boss wave.
With the time saved by removing extra bots, we can focus on making the remaining bots more interesting and difficult in the future.
Beginner mode has been completely reworked to be easier (no more annoying polearms on wave 1) and more rewarding.
The current intention is to keep Beginner mode focused on making those first few level easier to get for new characters who can't always join in on a regular run. With that in mind, the bots are quite easy to work through for experienced players and hopefully not too boring for new recruits.
With the level cap still at 26, the amount of XP earned for each Nord is significantly higher. Material drops are planned but only the simplest ones since Beginner mode's purpose is to help with levelling, not to be a place to grind out materials.
The difficulty, XP, and drops are all something which will have to be adjusted over time since it is hard to judge how the mode will play out outside of controlled testing.
The number and arrangement of bots has been adjusted along with the shift to 15 waves.
A minimum level of 27 has also been introduced and the max number of players per server has been dropped to 8.
This is only the first step in the rework of Cavalry mode and more changes can be expected soon.
Before this update, there were quite a few bots in multiple modes of NordInvasion. Normal and Hard mode each had bots from the next highest mode and half of Beginner mode was a clone of Normal. This has all been changed and nearly all the duplicates have been removed. Each mode has its own bots except for Cavalry since it spans a range of difficulties.
Ragnarok difficulty has been increased slightly. Nothing too drastic; just crushthrough weapons on a few challenge waves and a whole new final challenge wave before Odin.
It should be noted that the crushthrough does not stun the player and the damage inflicted is a work in progress. Once we see how this affects real runs, we can start tuning the difficulty better and will continue adding new challenges in the future.
No patch would be complete without a few map fixes...
